Orders over 30 days — drill deck

Thirty days is the fork. TRS and line-of-duty care are the short-orders door. Longer orders are active-duty TRICARE.

8 min · Guard and Reserve going on orders · Education only. Not a claim. Not Army or VA product.

One-pagers (single sheet)
  1. Slide 1 · The fork · TOP's

Count the consecutive days before you brief the plan.

    • Drill, AT, and orders of 30 days or less: TRS if they bought it, plus line-of-duty care.
    • More than 30 days of Title 10 or qualifying Title 32: active-duty TRICARE from day one.
    • State Active Duty usually never opens the active-duty door.

1 / 2 · Verify on TRICARE activation before anyone enrolls.

  2. Slide 2 · DEERS · TOP's

Personnel posts the orders. Then the Soldier enrolls.

    • If milConnect still says Selected Reserve, the portal will offer the wrong plan.
    • Coming off long orders is a qualifying life event. TAMP may be 180 days. Confirm it in milConnect.
    • Do not tell them to buy TRS on day 40 of a deployment.

2 / 2 · Verify on TRICARE activation before anyone enrolls.
