SGLI runs 120 days free after separation. Apply for VGLI within 240 days with no health questions. The last day is 1 year and 120 days. Recut 21 Sep 2026: a Nov. 1, 2026–Jan. 31, 2027 premium holiday does not pause this clock. Use the SGLI clock with your DD-214 date.
