The letters AGR rarely print on TRICARE.mil
Active Guard Reserve and Full-Time National Guard Duty are treated as active duty for TRICARE. That means Prime or Prime Remote — not TRICARE Reserve Select. TRS is a purchase for drilling Selected Reserve who are not on active-duty TRICARE. If DEERS still says Selected Reserve while you are on an AGR tour, every portal will lie.
Enroll on the active-duty door. milConnect. Confirm the status line. Then Prime. Do not open Beneficiary Web Enrollment and tap TRS because a Facebook post said Guard gets TRS.
Teeth and the retirement fork
Sponsor dental is the military clinic or the Active Duty Dental Program. Family buys TDP as an active-duty family. Two products. FSAFEDS health-care FSA is open to AGR — that is fsafeds.gov, Open Season, not milConnect.
Retirement is a fork. 20 years of active federal service is usually a regular retirement with pay now. 20 qualifying years without 20 active years is gray area / TRR. Leaving AGR is a DEERS status change. TAMP is a service determination — do not assume 180 days. Confirm on milConnect.
