The Reserve card is not ‘in uniform’

Title 10 active duty has its own card. AGR has its own card. Selected Reserve — weekend drill, annual training, and most ADOS under 30 days — is a purchase: TRICARE Reserve Select, then TDP, then the 50-point year. Recut from TRICARE.mil: you do not qualify for TRS on active-duty orders for more than 30 days, on TAMP, in the IRR, or if you are FEHB-eligible. That FEHB lockout is written through 1 January 2030.

Inactive: 30 days or less

Recut from TRICARE.mil When Inactive: IDT (drill), annual training, and active service of 30 days or less. You may buy TRS. Line of duty care covers an injury incurred or aggravated on those orders, including travel to and from duty. Family is not on LOD. Teeth are TDP — a separate portal.

More than 30 days, then the 90-day clock

Personnel posts DEERS. You and DEERS-registered family sit on active-duty TRICARE from the first day of the orders. Deactivating after more than 30 days is a qualifying life event — 90 days to change the plan. Contingency, 12304b, or a national emergency: TAMP 180 days after. Then buy TRS again if you still drill. Other activations: no TAMP. CHCBP is the premium bridge if TRS is not the next door.
