National Guard · Army and Air National Guard

National Guard enrollments — one page

  • Name the statute: Title 10 (federalized), Title 32 (state control, federal pay), or State Active Duty (usually state pay, not TRICARE, not a VA day).
  • Traditional drill: buy TRS in milConnect. Dual-status technicians: FEHB, not TRS — lockout through 1 Jan 2030. AGR / FTNGD: the AGR card.
  • State school money is the state .mil education office. FTA is ArmyIgnitED (ARNG) or the Air Force TA door (ANG). Chapter 1606 is VA.
  • Home loan: recut from VA.gov — 90 days Title 10, or 90 days including 30 consecutive under 32 USC 316, 502, 503, 504, or 505, or six years. SAD does not count.
  • NGB-23 / RPAM is the points print while you serve. NGB-22 when you leave. NPRC does not hold current Guard jackets.
