Apply for MGIB-SR (Chapter 1606)
Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve is the drill-status education benefit. Get DD 2384-1 from the unit, confirm the school is approved, then file 22-1990. Not Post-9/11. Recut from VA.gov.

Get the Notice of Basic Eligibility from the unit
DD Form 2384-1. The unit also codes eligibility into the DoD personnel system so VA can verify it. Six-year Selected Reserve obligation, IADT complete, high-school credential, and you stay in good standing. Recut from VA.gov.

Run the Comparison Tool on the school
If the program is not approved, you pay. Chapter 1606 rates for FY2026 (1 Oct 2025–30 Sep 2026) publish a full-time monthly rate of $493 — confirm the live table on VA.gov before you budget.

File 22-1990, then have the school certify
Apply on VA.gov with Login.gov or ID.me. Filing is not the last click. The VA certifying official at the school still has to certify the enrollment.
