Open your state’s National Guard education office
Type the state name plus nationalguard.mil. Confirm the URL is .mil. That office runs the state tuition waiver / grant. Arkansas NGTW, Illinois, Texas, and dozens of others are state law — I will not copy their handbooks. Federal Tuition Assistance is a service portal
Army National Guard: ArmyIgnitED. First-time users take the training. Air National Guard uses the Air Force TA door, not ArmyIgnitED. Requests have to be approved before the class starts.

Chapter 1606 is VA, not the TAG
Notice of Basic Eligibility from the unit, then 22-1990 on VA.gov. Six-year obligation, IADT complete, good standing. Recut from VA.gov MGIB-SR. It can stack with a state waiver at some schools — the state office tells you who pays first.

Do not spend Post-9/11 on a class the waiver would have paid
Chapter 33 is qualifying active-duty days, not drill. Run VA’s Comparison Tool. File FAFSA anyway — grants are a fourth pot.
