TAMP is 180 days of transitional TRICARE. Then a cliff.
If your service documents Transitional Assistance Management Program in DEERS, you get 180 days of TRICARE with no premium. Day 181 needs a next plan: TRS, TRR, VA health, or civilian.

See if you even qualify
Typical paths: Guard/Reserve coming off more than 30 consecutive days of qualifying active duty; involuntary honorable separation; some stop-loss and sole-survivor cases; leaving active duty into Selected Reserve the next day. Your personnel shop puts it in DEERS. I do not.

Confirm it in milConnect
Open milConnect and read the TRICARE / TAMP line. If it is not there, call DEERS / your S-1 before you skip a civilian plan. TAMP is free. A surprise bill is not.

Use the 180 days
Coverage usually starts when qualifying active duty ends. You may enroll in Prime or Select depending on where you live. Dental is a different program.

Plan day 181 before it arrives
Drilling again? TRICARE Reserve Select. Gray area? TRICARE Retired Reserve. Veteran? 10-10EZ for VA health. Put the end date on a calendar next to the VGLI clock.
