Title 10, Title 32, or State Active Duty
The statute on the order decides TRICARE, VA days, and who cuts the check. Recut from TRICARE.mil Guard/Reserve pages and VA.gov. I will not file it.

Read the authority line on the order
Title 10 is federalized — president / Secretary of Defense. Title 32 is state control with federal pay (including FTNGD and many disaster missions). State Active Duty is the governor’s call with state pay. Recut from public DoD/VA Guard pages: SAD is usually not TRICARE and not a VA home-loan or GI Bill day.

If the duty is 30 days or less
Recut from TRICARE.mil When Inactive: drill, AT, and orders of 30 days or less stay on the inactive door. Traditional Guard may keep or buy TRS. Line of duty care covers an injury on those federal orders. Family is not on LOD.

If the federal orders run more than 30 days
Personnel posts DEERS. You sit on active-duty TRICARE from day one of the orders. Recut from TRICARE.mil activation. Deactivating is a qualifying life event — 90 days to change the plan. Contingency / 12304b / national emergency can open TAMP 180 days after.

If it is State Active Duty
Expect a state paycheck, state workers-comp for injury, and no BWE click. USERRA coverage for SAD depends — confirm on DOL.gov and your state ESGR. Do not cancel TRS because a Facebook post called it a ‘deployment.’
