Enroll active-duty TRICARE

Regular-component active duty enrolls Prime, Prime Remote, or the overseas Prime options based on the duty station — not TRICARE Reserve Select. Confirm DEERS, run the Plan Finder, finish BWE. Zero premium for you. I will not file it.

1. 01

   Confirm you are regular-component active duty

   Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard on Title 10. AGR and FTNGD use the AGR walkthrough. Weekend drill uses TRS. Three doors. Pick the one that matches the orders.

   Fix DEERS before you touch Beneficiary Web Enrollment

   Open milConnect. Status has to read active duty. Personnel posts the orders. DEERS / DMDC: 800-538-9552. Do not enroll anything until the roster is right.

   Match the plan to the duty station

   You must enroll one of the Prime options that matches the station. CONUS: Plan Finder on the ZIP. Prime Service Area → TRICARE Prime. Live AND work more than 50 miles (or a one-hour drive) from a military hospital or clinic → Prime Remote. Overseas: Prime Overseas or Prime Remote Overseas — family usually needs command sponsorship. Anything else → regional contractor. Prime can still work within 100 miles of a network PCM. East (Humana) 800-444-5445. West (TriWest) 888-874-9378.

   Enroll in milConnect → Benefits → Beneficiary Web Enrollment

   Sign in with CAC, DS Logon, or Login.gov. Enroll the Prime option that matches the station. Pick a primary care manager if the form offers one — if you skip it, they assign one. Active-duty sponsors pay no enrollment fee and no premium. Submit the form. Download the enrollment card.

   If BWE will not take remote or overseas, use the contractor

   Prime in a service area is usually online. TPR is often phone or mail. Overseas may go through a TRICARE Area Office. Once it processes, confirm the PCM name and phone in milConnect.

   Family is DEERS first, then a 90-day clock — Open Season is not yours

   Marriage or birth certificate at RAPIDS. A newborn goes on DEERS within 90 days stateside, 120 days overseas. Active-duty family members are usually auto-enrolled in Prime (PSA) or Select (not PSA); overseas a child is often auto-enrolled Select Overseas. You have 90 days from that auto-enrollment to change the plan. TRICARE Open Season (9 Nov–8 Dec 2026, confirm on TRICARE.mil) does not apply to the active-duty sponsor. It is the family’s Prime ↔ Select swap. PCS is its own qualifying life event. Their teeth are TDP — family is not ADDP.

7. 07

   Clinic, teeth, SGLI, and TSP are four more doors

   MHS GENESIS is the military clinic portal — appointments and messages, not enrollment. Sponsor dental is the military clinic first; ADDP is civilian care if referred or remote (family is ineligible). Family buys TDP. SGLI amount and beneficiary live in milConnect. The BRS match lives on TSP.gov. FSAFEDS is not the regular-component door. None of those enroll themselves because you finished BWE.
