Ask VA about the cemetery before anyone needs it.
Pre-need burial eligibility is VA Form 40-10007. It decides if a veteran, spouse, or dependent child can be buried in a VA national cemetery. A funeral home does not have to file it.

File 40-10007 while everyone is alive.
Apply on the VA pre-need page. A decision letter now is easier than a Saturday phone call later. This is eligibility, not the burial allowance paid after a death.

After a death, burial allowance is a different claim.
The allowance, the headstone, and the flag are on the burials-and-memorials hub. They are not the life-insurance claim and not DIC.
