Gray area · Retired Reserve

You have the letter. You do not have the paycheck.

Gray area: 20 qualifying years, Notification of Eligibility in hand, not yet age 60 (or your reduced age). No retired pay. No regular retiree TRICARE until then. The checkers below are the rest of this lane — this is not a second TRR walkthrough.

1. Keep the 20-year letter. That is the door, not a rumor.
2. Medical: buy TRICARE Retired Reserve, or go civilian, or use VA health if you already have it.
3. Dental: FEDVIP dental on BENEFEDS is usually the gray-area product — not TDP.
4. ID card at RAPIDS. Privileges follow the card DEERS prints, not a Facebook post.
5. Reduced retirement age is earned in 90-day blocks of qualifying active duty after 28 Jan 2008. Floor is 50. Run the age tool — do not count it twice here.
