50 + 30 is not 80. VA does not add.

Remaining efficiency, not a stack of stickers

Start at 100 percent efficient. A 50 percent rating takes half of what is left, so you have 50 left. A 30 percent rating takes 30 percent of that 50, so 15 comes off, and you sit at 65. 65 rounds to 70. That is the whole trick. It is in 38 CFR. It is on VA.gov.
