Guard and Reserve now get a Certificate of Uniformed Service addendum with points. It is not a substitute for a regular DD-214. Get both. Store both.

Guard and Reserve: Ask for the DD214-1 Before You Clear
If you are leaving the Guard or Reserve, ask for the DD214-1 before you out-process. It is an addendum that is supposed to show active time, inactive time, and retirement points. It is not a replacement DD-214. Get both. If you already left, request records on VA.gov. A missing points page is how gray-area math goes sideways ten years later.
