TDP, FEDVIP, VA dental — pick one door

Active duty uses the clinic. Selected Reserve buys the TRICARE Dental Program. Gray-area and many retirees buy FEDVIP dental on BENEFEDS. VA outpatient dental is a limited class, not a default.

   Name your status

   Drilling, gray area, retiree, or veteran with no retired TRICARE. The portal follows the status, not the toothache.

2. 02

   Selected Reserve → TDP

   United Concordia / TRICARE.mil TDP. Not inside TRS. Not BENEFEDS.

3. 03

   Gray area / retiree → FEDVIP dental

   BENEFEDS.gov during Open Season or when first eligible. Vision is a separate FEDVIP purchase.

   Veteran VA dental is limited

   Often 100% P&T or other specific classes. Read VA.gov dental-care eligibility before you drive to a VA dentist.
